Artist Bio
Cherie Mongony is a Western Australian Visual Artist who strives to find the beauty in life's everyday simplicities.
'When you observe something so closely for a period of time you begin to appreciate it in a whole new light. This is why I love portraiture; because you begin to see the beauty in the imperfections.'
'I enjoy the challenge involved in producing art. For me, it's not so much about communicating something to the viewer, but more so to feel something when I create it. This is why I like to use a new media or technique without doing any practice, or why I like to suddenly paint/draw a completely different subject matter. It's also why I have produced portraits of children living in poverty and men battling with drug addiction; I think about their stories as I work and then hope that something good will come out of me producing that artwork.'
